What is Core Belief Engineering?

March 24, 2016

Core Belief EngineeringAs you may know by now I am a Certified Core Belief Engineering Practitioner; however some of you may not understand what Core Belief Engineering (CBE) is or how it differs from other therapies, so I thought I would share my story as to how I was introduced to CBE and explain the benefits of this method of therapy.

I became a Certified Core Belief Engineering Practitioner 15 years ago after being introduced to this therapy by my now husband. He had had tremendous success with CBE therapy and saw that I was struggling with my relationships and thought I could benefit from this therapy.
At that time I was having trouble trusting in my relationships and through this therapy I discovered it was because I had a belief, particularly around men, that they could not be trusted and that they would stray. Undoubtedly, this belief put a strain on many of my relationships. I recognized that my belief was unfair to my partner, but it was just something I felt and therefore I knew I had to work on this belief in order to work on my feelings. It was my work at breaking down this belief that started my work into Core Belief Engineering.

Core Belief Engineering was started in 1982 by Elly Roselle. She had struggled with anorexia and bulimia and believed there had to be a better way than just managing her disorder on a daily basis. After working and studying with hypnotherapy and many other influences she discovered CBE as a way to re-engineer her destructive behaviours and shift the core of her being.

This kind of therapy sees the mind as a constellation of many subconscious parts i.e., the mother part, the friend part, the wife part and when these parts are needed they come up and take over the subconscious mind. For example, i.e. when you speak to a parent or speak to our children versus our professional part at work with our clients.

Each separate part of our mind is responsible for certain behaviours. For example, if someone feels they are unworthy of a healthy relationship a CBE Practitioner works directly with the part that is responsible for that feeling. We dialogue with that part to see how that part functions within that person. We explore the different physiological responses it causes and the different philosophy it holds.

There is a mind-body connection and CBE’s believe this to be true. We find out, at a deep level, why someone believes what they do and most often discover that these beliefs were developed at a young age. We then negotiate for change by creating a partnership between a person’s present day conscious mind and its sabotaging beliefs (the subconscious mind).

People come into this world with a healthy, self-sustaining, “uniquely you” base. In order to resurrect this state, we must work to uncover what has sabotaged it and how we can work with these beliefs to bring the present day mind to a healthy state. Change takes place through negotiation, change and allowing the belief to become fully what it is.

The one thing you need to understand is that the ultimate goal of a Core Belief Engineering Practitioner is to have the conscious mind and the subconscious mind work together in a healthy way. This goal enables us to have healthier relationships.

For more information on my work as a Core Belief Engineering Practitioner and how I can help you uncover your big beliefs, book a free consultation, or if you have a question or topic about CBE that you would like to know more about, contact me and let me know or tweet me, or head over to my Facebook Page and leave a comment. I look forward to hearing from you.

Is your spouse hesitant to work on your relationship?

January 5, 2016

Are you looking to work on your relationship with your spouse or significant other, but your partner is not receptive to the idea? Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for a spouse or significant other to disagree about needing help with a relationship.

Often the spouse who is resistant to see someone would rather read books or work on the relationships themselves. Instead of getting upset, which doesn’t help matters, ask them what they think will happen if they do talk to someone. Ask them what they are afraid of. Suggest that they write down the pros and cons of speaking to someone about the relationship, including what their priorities are for the relationship itself.

Writing a pros and cons list is a great place to start for both you and your spouse. If a spouse is still resistant then you need to contact someone yourself and talk to someone. Even if you think the problem lies with your spouse, you still need to talk to someone. Talking to a professional will help you determine your role in the breakdown of your relationship and determine any blind spots that may be affecting your relationship.

If there is something within you that is contributing to the breakdown of a relationship or allowing a bad relationship to continue then you need to talk to someone or the situation will only get worse. You cannot sweep relationship problems under a rug – they will only get bigger and the problems get worse.

Does this situation sound familiar to you? If you are ready to talk with someone, book a free 20-minute consultation with me or sign up for my newsletter for more valuable resources that may be helpful to you.
