How to Overcome Disordered Eating {An Interview with the Gut Goddess}

August 16, 2018

How to Overcome Disordered EAtingDo you have a love-hate relationship with food?

Do you struggle with those little voices that criticize how you look even though you think of yourself as pretty conscious around body image?

Maybe you ask yourself, “Why do I keep tripping myself up, binging or not keeping my promise that I’ll go on a diet?”

It can make you feel like a loser to have these ‘failures’. You may even put yourself down because you haven’t been able to change your behaviour even though you’re intelligent and aware. You know you want to take action, but are not taking action – why is this?

I had the privilege to talk with Kezia Hall, the Gut Goddess, on her podcast about how mindset gets in our way from feeling powerful about our bodies, and about how to overcome disordered eating.

If you don’t know her, Kezia Hall, the Gut Goddess, runs Super-Naturally Healthy, a business dedicated to empowering and equipping people to bring greater health, healing, and joy into their life and world through nutritional and lifestyle changes. She also doesn’t shy away from talking about poop, which I love. That’s right. Poop conversations are really important, and I bet you don’t regularly have them!

So, how do you get out of the hamster wheel of wanting to eat healthy, but actually taking action? You start by taking a look at your beliefs around your body, around food, and around what is and is not healthy.

Have a listen to the podcast and tell me what you believe – what is your truth around healthy eating? What are some of the ways you operate and what do you believe about that? Is food huge an emotional issue for you? Are your beliefs carried down from your parents?

If you need help sorting out your beliefs around healthy eating and food, let’s chat about your situation and see how I can help.

How to Conquer Biz Burnout and Get Your Creativity Back

August 15, 2018

Conquer biz burnoutIn the last little while, I have felt burnt out. I believe this is a result of a busy spring and me doing a lot of new things and being a lot more creative in my business. After being so busy, I hit a wall in July.

I wanted to discuss the feeling of hitting a wall. It comes in all forms. It can be the feeling of being burnt out, not having a lot to give, and maybe even feeling like you’re not in the right line of work.

This is especially true for entrepreneurs who may be wondering if it is all worth it. If maybe working a 9-5 and being able to leave it all at the door when they come home is better than running their own business. This question is always there for entrepreneurs and it’s not wrong to explore that.

When I hit walls or feel powerless, I know that it means I need to do a little more digging and exploration within me. I hit a wall after the spring when I offered my own e-course, a workshop as well as my one-on-one work. I knew I had hit it because I love to communicate and I am an extrovert, yet I found myself not wanting to connect and be out there on social media via video, etc.

I needed to find out what was going on with me.

I was caught up with my beliefs around work. Our beliefs are fairly universal: we need to work to make money and be successful, etc. This is generally inherited from our ancestors, who literally needed to work all the time. Working in the fields, doing laundry by hand, etc. We still run a lot of these beliefs – to the point that it can burn us out. In addition, we are constantly on our screens – constantly connected.

I felt I was only successful if I was working like a dog. This comes from my parents and my husband. Thankfully, I also had a lot of influences letting me know that is okay to take some time off. To take time to do things that bring me pleasure. By doing this, I opened myself up to creating space for other ideas and moments.

Entrepreneurs, especially those who are parents, don’t often take time off for themselves. We don’t allow ourselves time to sit and be quiet. So, upon discovering my own wall and how to move past it, I now invite you to take some time to just be quiet. To let the voices come in that will tell you what you need to do next. The ideas that will take your business to the next level. These voices will only come in if you take the time to be quiet and create the space to allow these voices to come in.

If you allow this space and silence, you will get the inspiration you need to figure out what you have to offer this world, how you can be the most productive, and be in your zone of genius. This is what came to me this summer when I took the time to be quiet.

If you have been working the summer away – stop. Take some time out. Take the time needed to figure out what the best move for you is. Whether it is an hour a day to take a walk or months off – take the time to you need to reconnect with yourself.

If you need some extra help figuring out how to reconnect with yourself, let’s chat about your situation and figure out if I can help.

Does Mindset affect your business?

August 22, 2016

I recently sat down with Certified Business Coach, Lara Wellman on her Social Media Simplified podcast to discuss how a person’s mindset can affect their professional success. I often have entrepreneurial clients talk to me about their relationships with clients, money and even their spouse – and often these clients are surprised to learn how their mindset can affect the rest of their lives, including their professional success.

Does Mindset affect your business-As I have mentioned before, mindset is defined as a system of beliefs that creates your reality. Your beliefs are the glasses through which you see the world and your overall view of things depends on how clear your lenses are.

Entrepreneurs have their own unique set of beliefs they struggle with, including:

1) Charging their worth – Entrepreneurs, women in particular, struggle to charge their true rates or hesitate to invoice clients (or end up with that sinking feeling in their stomach when they do). Many women entrepreneurs end up doing a lot of work for much less than it’s worth.

2) Visibility – Many entrepreneurs often hesitate to promote themselves; however as many entrepreneurs know you need to speak highly of yourself and your business to spread the word and be successful.

3) Fear of failure – Not many entrepreneurs view themselves as “experts” because they feel like a fraud if they do, but if they are to instil confidence in people who want to buy from them they need to have that confidence first.

4) Success – Success often seems to have a negative connotation, especially with women who are often associated with being ruthless and selfish – even though this is not the case at all.

Luckily beliefs can be changed. The first step is to become aware of what your beliefs are, recognize your blind spots and then work through them to create new, better beliefs. As a Core Belief Engineering Practitioner I can help you uncover the beliefs that may be blocking you from achieving success in your professional life. If you would like to see how Core Belief Engineering can help you in your journey as entrepreneur, book a free consultation and let’s chat.

Break Free From Disempowering Beliefs: My guest interview on the Badboy Breakthrough Podcast

May 30, 2016

Break Free From Disempowering Beliefs- My guest interview on the Badboy Breakthrough PodcastRecently, I was a guest on Lorna Poole’s Badboy Breakthrough Podcast discussing my introduction into Core Belief Engineering therapy (CBE)and how it helped me realize I had terrible beliefs surrounding relationships with men.

If you haven’t heard of the Badboy Breakthrough podcast, this twice weekly podcast is all about divulging the secrets to men, love, sex and relationships. Lorna encourages women to think about why they are still single, why they could be having relationship troubles, and interviews dating and relationship experts from all over the world. I am happy to add my expertise on breaking free from disempowering beliefs in order to have a healthy relationship. You can listen to my interview on Lorna’s podcast here ->

As you know, I was introduced into CBE therapy after hearing the amazing results my now husband had achieved while working with a CBE therapist. He recommended CBE therapy after learning, first hand; that I didn’t trust men and believed all men would eventually cheat on their spouse or significant other. I projected this lack of trust onto him.

My CBE therapist narrowed in on the parts of me that held these beliefs and then through dialogue with those beliefs made that subconscious part of me come forward so I could dialogue with it to talk it down. Core Belief Engineering therapy enabled me to resolve the beliefs that were blocking me from having a healthy relationship with my husband and also got me interested in learning and practicing Core Belief Engineering.

People who walk through my door recognize they have a pattern or block. CBE therapy shows them the belief component behind those patterns so they can approach situations differently. Essentially, CBE takes the big rocks and smashes them into smaller pieces so people can see what their blocking beliefs are and work to change or remove them.

CBE is successful because it connects people back to their base (before the blocking beliefs were formed) and get a person’s core beliefs working again – the beliefs that are uniquely and inherently them.

When we are young our beliefs are uniquely us, but school and other external influences change our unique beliefs and sometimes form beliefs that block our true beliefs. Blocking beliefs are not healthy and if it affects relationships. CBE works with people so they can recognize when they are having a blocking belief, work through it and have healthy relationships.

Have a listen to the podcast – Lorna asks some great questions about what Core Belief Engineering is and how it can help people who have trouble maintainging a healthy relationship.

Are you feeling stuck?

May 16, 2016

Are you feeling stuck? Are you feeling stuck? As though you are on a treadmill and can’t get off?

Feeling stuck is the number one feeling people identify with when they reach out to me. The “stuck” feeling often applies to their careers, business goals, relationships, or weight.

What can you do to change the “stuck” feeling?
The first thing I have my clients do is grab a pen and paper (or journal!) and identify their status quo – i.e., write down what the problem is.
Then I ask them to think and the write down what the positive benefit is to having that initial problem.

If you think there is no positive benefit to feeling stuck – you’re wrong. If a problem is holding on and you are feeling stuck, more often than not there is a positive benefit to that feeling.

To uncover this positive benefit, you need to uncover the hidden belief or beliefs behind the problem. If you can’t identify this imagine what the positive benefit could be. As you think about this more and more you will become increasingly aware of your beliefs and then be able to examine your reactions and emotions surrounding those beliefs.

Once you uncover your beliefs, you can then work with them on a deeper level and work toward moving forward. Identifying these beliefs is just step one in the right direction!

Why are you feeling stuck? What do you think is the positive benefit of this feeling?

If you’re feeling stuck and want to work to uncover the beliefs behind why you’re feeling the way you do, book a free consultation.
