Are you struggling with the idea of outsourcing some of what needs to be done in your business to other people? Outsourcing may be essential in growing your business. I know this because I have been there!
I have outsourced for about two years now. It took me awhile to do it because I didn’t know much about it, but as I became more involved with more entrepreneurial groups I began to learn more about outsourcing and virtual assistants (VAs).
Before I began outsourcing I didn’t do any social media and I was doing a lot of outdated 20th century marketing such as postcards and then wondered why I wasn’t making traction with my business. My business coach started referring me to people who could help me with marketing tasks.
If you don’t know what outsourcing is, it is hiring outside contractors to do some of tasks you either don’t want to do or don’t have the time to do (or both)! Outsourcing is important for business growth because ultimately it is going to make you money.
Like all areas of life, if you try to do everything yourself you are not going to do anything well. This can delay you from achieving your next level of success!
For some business owners there is a belief that they cannot afford to outsource. If this is the case then you need to work on your money beliefs. I had to work on the belief that I needed to have a certain number of clients in order to support the contractors I wanted to hire. I quickly realized that in order to get more clients I needed to free up time.
If I had not outsourced I could have burned myself out trying to do it all. So how do you get started? I got started by getting together with another therapist and hiring a web designer together to basically create the same website for both of us, but put different names on each. This is one way to get creative in how to outsource and afford something that needs to be done.
If you are working on something that you don’t know how to do or that you do not enjoy doing then you are wasting money. Instead, you should be working with clients or creating products, etc. and enjoying it and then using that money to outsource.
You need to change the way you look at outsourcing. Instead of seeing it as an added expense, see it as a necessary tool to grow your business. Just as you would look at other expenses to see if it’s necessary! For example, I cut back on other expenses such as going to the gym by replacing it with walking and running daily. So, how can you save money that can be allocated to outsourcing?
If you are afraid that you do not generate enough income to support outsourcing then you need to look at your confidence. Be confident that you can make money. Lacking confidence is a mindset problem many entrepreneurs have, especially women.
So, it comes to being afraid to outsource, work on your money and confidence mindsets. Understand that you can do it and that outsourcing is vital to growing your business.
