Business coaches are the first person to see a mindset block in an entrepreneur and play an integral role in ensuring an entrepreneur’s success. It is because of this that I wanted to chat with my own business coach, Lara Wellman, about how entrepreneurs feel their business is running them rather than the other way around.
A lot of people start their business thinking it is going to be one thing i.e. freedom, financial success, etc. but then a couple of years in they find themselves completely off track. People get caught up in running their business when they haven’t actually taken the time to think about what they actually WANT to be doing.
What does it mean to be doing the work you want?
Take Lara for example, she has a background in marketing and social media and is often asked to write content for other businesses and enjoys writing, but not necessarily for other people. She can do the work, but she doesn’t want to. Having this control – and saying no to tasks she doesn’t want can be difficult for some entrepreneurs.
Your work should be intentional. Ask yourself what you want to do and don’t hesitate to redefine it. Lara started out in social media strategy and it was work she could do well, however she transitioned to business coaching when she realized that the business owners she was helping with marketing also needed help with their business direction.
This made her realize that just because you started your business in one direction it doesn’t mean you can’t change directions and go another way. Running a business is an evolution. Lots of entrepreneurs have many interests and want change and that’s okay.
Are you living the entrepreneurial lifestyle you want?
Is your business running you or are you running your business?
To dig deep into this subject, join Lara Wellman for a FREE webinar on December 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. EST about the entrepreneurial mindset and coaching and how to effectively run your business!
What will you learn in this webinar?
We are going to talk about overcoming the overwhelming feelings that can come with running a business. We will also discuss ways you can control your schedule and why it’s okay to be specific about the clients you want to work with and the services and/or products you want to offer!
We will also explore your entrepreneurial beliefs including:
* How to set boundaries
* How to look at the beliefs around your self-worth and how that can affect how much you make and how you feel around the work you do.
* How to look at your beliefs, examine them and figure out how you can start to work on them.
This webinar will cover the reasons that entrepreneurs feel like they no longer have control of their businesses, and some of the ways they can start to examine what they’re doing, and change their habits to feel like they are back in the driver’s seat.
